Leo C is a familiar artist on the Southend music scene, his distinctive musical style may be something of a throwback to the 1950s but it’s certainly making him stand out rather well.

His new single entitled We Age has a smooth mid-tempo with a classic start-stop rhythm. Based around an acoustic guitar and a lively drum beat, Leo C shows us a different side to his music with this one and it’s definitely his best effort yet. Where his previous single You’ve Got It All was recorded in a very DIY manner and featured retro guitar effects, We Age offers more of a raw studio sound and I think it works well in this case.

Leo C gives us an insight into what We Age is all about below:

“This song is a reflection of coming of age and the changing nature of love. The persona of the song imagines how he will think and feel about certain things as he ages. The song features a romantic melody and instrumentation reminiscent of 1950’s Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

The recording took place at London Road Studios in Leigh-on-Sea and was produced by Joe Lamb, who also played the drums and features on backing vocals. Released via the SoSlam label, We Age is out now across all digital platforms.

Southend’s music scene is definitely on the rise and the amount of talent on offer is fantastic. Leo C is one of the most active musicians around the area and his approach to songwriting is a case of old meets new, which is no bad thing at all.
