Born and raised in New York City, Anna Volpe is new on our radar. The American artist has just unveiled a highly original version of ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ by Simple Minds.

We don’t usually focus on covers but this modern, electro-pop version of the 1980s classic was just too good to miss. Volpe’s strong vocals lead the way throughout but the instrumentation is highly impressive as well. A haunting piano melody plays a huge part but becomes surrounded by atmospheric synths and soundscapes. It’s a mysterious version that is still reminiscent of the original but has been brought right up to date in the dark-pop world.

Anna Volpe released her debut single in 2017 but has been involved in music for a number of years. She previously used her classically-trained vocal talents to contribute to various bands and projects. Volpe is no stranger to performing either and has performed at venues on both sides of the US.

2019 is looking like a good year for Volpe as she plans to release her debut EP in the summer. Entitled ‘Call My Name’, the EP will be the result of last year’s recording sessions and will feature new original music. Until then, listen to her version of ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ below.
