Velvet & Stone are fresh on our radar with their own brand of folk/americana and they have recently released a glorious new single entitled ‘By The Water’. Along with the single release, the duo have just shared a wonderful music video for the track.

‘By The Water’ is definitely a song for the summer, which is also when Velvet & Stone will release their debut album. The single is made up of warm, bright acoustic tones, charming violin melodies (courtesy of Kathryn Tremlett) and a highly impressive chorus. Lead vocalist Lara Snowdon fulfils the track with her soothing voice and a full band accompany the duo to create something truly special.

Often likened to the likes of Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Seth Lakeman, Velvet & Stone definitely have an impressive sound. The duo have received praise from the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music and plenty of music blogs.

Velvet & Stone often like to keep the true meaning of their releases unexposed and for the listener to have their own interpretation of their music. The duo write from personal experiences, stories, melancholy tales and rugged landscapes. Combining all of this with their sheer talent as musicians, stunning melodies and foot-stomping rhythms, they are able to create a simply unforgettable sound.

‘By The Water’ is a highly likeable song that you will feel instantly drawn to. Be sure to follow Velvet & Stone online here, watch the video and listen to the single below.
