From performing on the Southend music scene and at countless music festivals nationwide, Bertie Scott has become a natural performer. His songs are great as well and he has just unveiled ‘Higher’, a brand new single.
Ever since I first saw Bertie Scott performing down in Old Leigh with a band a couple of years ago, I knew that he was a great artist. From climbing on tables and showing off his strong voice, he proved that he was a true showman. Since then, Scott has released various singles that fit in with the modern alt-pop genre. ‘Higher’ is a classy continuation and is bound to create a buzz.
Scott’s latest single has been produced to a high standard with upbeat synths, a driving bassline and of course his distinctive vocals. The track has been layered with plenty of effects too, notably on the lead vocals which take the chorus to the next level. It’s a pop song that is fit for the mainstream by an artist that more people should be aware of.
Bertie Scott reflects on his new release below:
“The song was originally written with Chris Bourne and pitched out to DJs in the publishing world. However, after not getting the bites back we were looking for, and still being totally in love with the track – I decided to release it out under my own project with a fresh new production. The vocal production/engineering was done entirely myself for the first time at my home studio in Westcliff, which is something I’ve always wanted to do and have been building towards over the last year. The production has gone through a tonne different versions and changes, but I’m really happy with how it’s all ended up. Every time I listen to the chorus drop I can’t help but feel the good vibes.”
The full track was produced at Run Wild Music with Jamie Sellers. Mixing for the single was completed at Outhouse Studios in Reading with John Mitchell (credits include You Me at Six and Lower Than Atlantis).
It’s clear that Bertie Scott is an impressive artist. If you’re a fan, then you won’t have to wait long for the next release as this is the first of three singles expected this year. The Essex singer/songwriter will be appearing at Pride events across the UK this summer in towns and cities including Hertford, Norwich, Bath and Southend.
